What to expect during the Baruntse Expedition?
Baruntse Expedition is a strenuous mountain to climb. The journey is challenging and requires previous trekking and climbing experience. The route that leads to the summit of Mt. Baruntse involves numerous technical and steep parts. You have to be in strong physical fitness, health, and mindset to complete the journey. Moreover, you will also be scaling Mera Peak that will help you boost your confidence.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) Symptoms & Prevention
Altitude sickness is a common illness one can suffer while climbing a mountain. As you will be gaining significant elevation during the journey, it is very important to maintain your body condition as well. To make sure the team does not have to go through AMS, we have added ample rest days in our Baruntse Expedition. You will be spending several days acclimatizing your body before pushing towards the summit.
Symptoms of altitude sickness
- Difficulty in sleeping
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea or vomiting
- Shortness of breath with exertion
Preventive measures
- Include an adequate number of rest days in the itinerary
- Keep yourself hydrated
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages
- Do not gain more than 500 meters in a day
- Try to spend the night in lower altitude
- Acclimatize properly at a lower altitude
- Inform your guide immediately if any of the symptoms you see
- Do not push yourself
Best time to go to Baruntse Expedition
The best time for Baruntse Expedition is post-monsoon i.e. from October till January. The weather is mostly stable and pleasant during this time of the year. Likewise, the views are also at its best with a clear sky. The trail gets bloomed up with numerous types of floras and vegetation as well.
Accommodation during Baruntse Expedition
During Baruntse Expedition, you stay overnight in the teahouse and camps. Teahouses are available in the villages at a lower elevation. The teahouse in this part of Nepal offers quite basic facilities with a shared room and washroom. While climbing, you stay overnight in tents. We offer branded sleeping tents to each member of the group with a shared dining and washroom tents. All the tents will be carried by our crew members.
Food & Water on Baruntse Expedition
While spending nights in the teahouse, you get meals as per their menu. Dishes like rice, curries, meat, egg, porridge, pudding, pasta, toast, sandwich, momo, soup, noodles, etc can be seen on the menu. While climbing, all the meals will be prepared and cooked by our trained crew members. We have precisely designed the meal options during the climbing, adding enough delicious dishes to choose from.
