Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) Symptoms & Prevention
Acute mountain sickness is also popularly known as altitude sickness, which happens due to high altitude. More specifically, AMS is an illness that usually occurs during high altitude journey when the body did not get acclimatized with increased altitude. Keeping this in mind, we take all the measures to keep you away from altitude sickness during the trek.

- Difficulty in sleeping
- Dizziness or light-headedness
- Fatigue
- Headache
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea or vomiting
- Shortness of breath with exertion
Preventive measures
- Include an adequate number of rest days in the itinerary
- Keep yourself hydrated
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages
- Do not gain more than 500 meters in a day
- Try to spend the night in lower altitude
- Acclimatize properly at a lower altitude
- Inform your guide immediately if any of the symptoms you see
- Do not push yourself
Best time to go to Everest Three High Passes Trek
Spring (March to May) and Autumn (October to November) is the best time to go on Three Passes Trek. During this time of the year, the weather is more on the stable side along with a moderate climate, which is perfect for trekking in the Himalayas.
Winter and Monsoon are not the ideal time to go on Everest Three Passes Trek. Heavy snowfall and rain make the trail dangerous and views unclear.
Accommodation during Everest Three High Passes Trek
You will stay overnight in the lodge or guest house as per the availability. There will be basic facilities in the lodge with the small twin-sharing room. Single rooms are not available most of the time. In some places, you might find attached washrooms, but generally, the washroom is on a sharing basis. We will try our best to book you the best available night stay for you.
Food & Water on Everest Base Camp Trek
Dal bhat tarkari is the most staple, energizing, and affordable option to have as a meal. In the lower altitude, you will find a wide range of food options from pasta, sandwiches, pastries, pudding, porridge, momo to several options of beverages. As the altitude increases, the price of the food gets higher, and the option becomes limited.

Getting travel insurance is like a backup that you can relay during emergencies. It is very important to take our travel insurance when you are traversing in remote areas, where there are no facilities. Our guides are well-trained in first aid and can handle any situation calmly, but if things get out of control then you might have to get airlifted. In this case, travel insurance comes handy.
