About Manaslu Circuit Trek

Manaslu Circuit Trek is an off-the-beaten trekking package that leads to the remote Manaslu region amidst high Himalayan mountains and break-taking scenery. You will be reaching the base of the world's eighth highest mountain, Manaslu Base Camp. During the trek, you get to see stunning views of the Himalayas like Mt. During the Manaslu Circuit trek, you pass by lovely villages and dense forests where you get to see diverse vegetation. As the elevation increases, the view and experience both get exotic. You will cross challenging Larkya La Pass (5,125 m) and traverse the region. On the trail, you get to see Hindu and Tibetan-style Buddhist villages and spectacular views of Budhi Gandaki River. One of our team members will pick you up from the Airport terminal gate and take you to the hotel. We have booked everything for you in advance. Relax for a few hours, and later, meet other team members over welcome dinner offered by the company.

We have kept this day to allow you to prepare for the trip. The day begins with a short guided sightseeing tour of a few monuments like Boudhnath Stupa, Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, etc. In the afternoon, you meet with your trek guide and go through your gears as well as a packing list.

The day begins early and you drive to Lapubesi. It is going to be a long drive along a bumpy road. During the drive, you get to see beautiful views of mountains, terraced fields, and lovely waterfalls.

The trek begins with walking along the bank of the river. You then cross a few suspension bridges and log bridges on the way. At Dawa take a small lunch break and move towards Khorlabeshi.

The trail crosses Khorla Besi and leads you to the Tatopani, where you will find natural hot spring. The trail then ascends and crosses a suspension bridge over Budhi Gandaki River. From you, you descend and cross one more suspension bridge and reach Jagat.

The trail ascends to a rocky ridge and leads you to Salleri. The trail moves to Sirdibas and passes long suspension bridge to reach Philim. Further, the trail passes through terraced fields and you reach Ekle Bhatti. Taking a short lunch break here, you trek through lush forest of Bamboo, cross a stream, and arrive Deng.

The trail will be a little tough today. On the way, you pass by several mustard fields and lovely waterfalls. Further, you trek and come across several stones carved with Buddha's image. You trek through lush forests of rhododendron, cross wooden bridges, and ascend through pine forest to reach Namrung.

Crossing a bridge over Budhi Gandaki, you pass by houses and farming fields. The trail changes its vibe and ambiance to Tibetan culture and language. Trekking through dense forests of oak, rhododendron, and fir, you pass through the stone arch and reach Lihi. Enjoying striking views of Mt. Manaslu and Naike Peak, you trek and cross a small stream. The trail from here leads you to Lho Gaon.

The trail offers amazing views of mountains like Mt. Hiunchuli, Peak 29, and Ngadi Chuli. Passing through Shyala village, you ascend and descend to a stream. The trail then moves along the side moraine of Pungyen glacier. The trail passes through many chortens and slowly ascends crossing a difficult crest. Further, passing by Thosang Khola, you drop down to a moraine and trek through widespread fields that reach Sama Gaun.

Today is acclimatization day so that your body can adjust to the increased altitude. You explore the village and go on a short hike to nearby places. There is also an option to hike to Manaslu Base Camp or Birendra Lake. Later, in the day, you also ascend to the Pungyen monastery located at the south of SamaGaon.

Following the Budhi Gandaki River, you will cross a suspension bridge and pass through mani walls as well as lush juniper forest. The trail slowly leads you to Samdo, a beautiful yak herding village, where you will see animals more than humans.

This is another rest day in Samdo. You will again stroll around the village and go on a short hike to nearby places. You will have a good opportunity to look into the daily lifestyle of the locals and experience their practices.

Today is going to be a short trekking day. Passing through many monasteries, you will cross a bridge over Budhi Gandaki River and reach Larkya Bazar. From here, you ascend along a moraine and reach Dharamsala past mani walls & stones.

It is going to be a long and tough climbing day. Enjoying amazing views of Larke Peak and Cheo Himal, the trail ascends on a steep and icy path through Larkya Glacier to take you to Larkya La Pass. From the pass, you get to see outstanding views of many Himalayan mountains. Further, the trail descends to Bhimthang for a night stay.

Trekking along the rushing Dudh Koshi River, you will cross a wooden bridge and trek through a dense forest of pine & rhododendron. On the way, you will get to see many animals like jackanapes, sheep, horses, and birds. The trail then passes through the landslide area and looking at captivating views of mountains, you get reach Gho village.

From Gho, you ascend and reach Tilije. From here, the trail further ascends to a small ridge and passes through stone-paved paths & many beautiful villages. You will then cross a bridge over Dudh Khola, and climb through a chorten-shaped arch and mani wall to reach Thonje village. Further, the trail passes through Dharapni and descend to Tal.

It is going to be a long drive today. After having breakfast, you begin driving towards Beshisahar. From here, you continue driving towards Kathmandu enjoying scenic views.

Today, you can spend the day as per your wish. Visit nearby tourist sites and explore the bustling streets of Thamel. Dine-in a fine restaurant and enjoy your last day in Kathmandu. In the evening, you will have a farewell dinner organized by the company.

The day begins early. You get ready to check-out of the hotel. Our team member will move you to the Airport according to your flight departure time.

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) Symptoms & Prevention

Manaslu Circuit Trek takes you above 5,000 meters from the sea level, which involves chances of altitude sickness. Usually, trekkers suffer from high altitude sickness if their body does not properly acclimatize. Therefore, we have included ample rest days in our itinerary to prevent AMS.

Manaslu Circuit Trek difficulty

Manaslu Circuit Trek is a difficult trek. You need to trek for 5 to 7 hours a day on a rugged, steep, forested path. As the altitude will increase, trekking becomes even more challenging due to thin air. There are many ascends and descends that you have to overcome on the way. Good health, strong stamina, determination, and physical fitness is needed to go on this trek.

Best time to go to Manaslu Circuit Trek

Spring (March to May) and Autumn (September to November) is known as the best time to go on Manaslu Circuit Trekking. The region has the most stable weather and clear sky during this time of the year. Moreover, spring welcomes numerous flora and autumn celebrates various festivals.

Seasons like Monsoon and Winter is not a good time to go on this venture due to heavy rainfall and extreme cold. Months from June to September fall under monsoon, whereas December to February falls under winter.

Accommodation during Manaslu Circuit Trek

Manaslu Circuit Trek 19 Days is a teahouse trek. The tea houses are run by locals. The room is normally sold on a twin-sharing basis. Small size, few pieces of furniture, and usually common washrooms are available. The room is not insulated, therefore the dining area acts more like a common space, where you can warm up yourself and spend some time.

Food & Water on Manaslu Circuit Trek

The meals will be served as the menu of the teahouse. The menu has a good variation in the lower elevation. However, as the altitude increases, the menu gets limited and more expensive. Among all the dishes dal bhat tarkari is the most filling and affordable ones that can keep you going throughout the day. While camping, food will be cooked and served by our trained porters.

Water is available in every teahouse. You can carry water purification tablets for extra safety. Make sure to carry 2L of reusable water bottles that can last you throughout the trail. We highly encourage you not to buy plastic water bottles in the way as it will help to reduce the waste.
