I recently completed the EBC trek and Island Peak climb, and I had an amazing experience with Gyans and Amrit. They were incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable throughout the trip. I felt safe and supported every step of the way, thanks to their professionalism and expertise. I highly recommend their services to anyone considering a mountain expedition.
In April 2023 we spend a month trekking around in Nepal with Ascent Trails. While preparing for our trip, we were assisted by Babu, Veerle and Gyans to find the trekking/climbing to suit our needs. In the beginning we had no idea what was possible and what would suit us. But thanks to some meetings in real life with Babu and Veerle we found our perfect trip, The Naya Khang Peak climbing. From the first moment we arrived in Nepal, Amrit took good care of us and showed us around in Kathmandu. Afterwards we started the trekking in the Langtang Valley with climb of Naya Khang. During this time of the year the nature was very beautiful. The higher we went, the less trekkers we saw. Especially during the climb we were totally alone, in the most beautiful scenery in the world. We even managed to capture snow leopard tracks. After this adventure we couldn't get enough of trekking in Nepal, so we asked Amrit if there were any other options. Last minute he arranged our second perfect adventure, the Poonhill and Mardi Himal Trek. This trekking was more crowded but the perfect one to hear nice stories, meet new people and play cards. We would like to thank Babu and Veerle for their time, preparation and information. Gyans for the good communication. The sherpa's for their kindness and help along the climbing. And Amrit for being a very talented guide and his companionship. We don't know yet when we come back, but we know it will be with ascenttrails. Alexander and Marijn (26 years old)
I spent November 2022 hiking and climbing in the Khumbu with Gyan from Ascent Trails as my guide. I feel really lucky that I ended up with Gyan to accompany me for this experience. He is everything one would hope for in a guide: helpful, knowledgeable, courteous, a strong and experienced climber, and generally just a fun person to spend time with. We attempted two summits during my trip- Lobuche East and Ama Dablam. Both of our summit attempts were successful and I give a lot of credit to Gyan for being flexible with the schedule and making some very helpful suggestions about how we can tweak our itinerary to maximize our enjoyment and our chances of success. One thing that seems small but I really appreciated- while climbing Ama Dablam he encouraged me to take out my ice axe and start using it. This seems minor but most climbers I saw were just jumaring their way up the whole mountain, and it made the whole climb much more fun and engaging than just pulling on fixed ropes. I also really appreciate Gyan's willingness to teach me Nepali culture and customs along the way, and eagerly answer the many questions I had during our month together. He's got a great attitude towards life that will energize you during your trekking or climbing. This is especially important on an expedition when you are facing some degree of challenges and discomfort. Also another benefit of traveling with Gyan is his English is quite excellent. This isn't always true for many Nepali guides. When you're spending such a long time with a guide communication is really important! Gyan will definitely be my go-to guide for future Himalayan adventures. Trust ascenttrails, you won't be disappointed!
Since I read the book "The Snow Leopard" by Peter Matthiesen in 2000, I wanted to travel to Dolpo. What finally happened In October 2019, it became my 10th trek in Nepal and one of the most beautiful. The trip was a great success in all respects. Walking through the incredibly beautiful landscapes, the age-old culture, the contacts with the local population, too many to mention. Our guides made sure that everyone begins to walk every morning with great pleasure, and that at evenings (sometimes tired) but very satisfied, we reached the campsite again after a beautiful day. An excellent cook surprised us 3 times a day with a nutritious well-kept meal. Every time we looked with surprise at what he managed to bring on the table. The Dolpo trek is really a unique experience, one that I will always remember with great nostalgia.
Ascent Trails are a highly professional trekking company. I reached out for them asking for details on an Everest Base Camp trek and they made the process very easy. They organised everything we were looking for offering flexible dates that suited our travel at a very good price and really took the stress out of travelling. Gyans is a fantastic and knowledgeable guide and a pleasure to spend time with through the Himalayas. I would recommend Ascent Trails to anyone looking for a reputable, reasonably priced local trekking company and an adventure through Nepal.
You decided at last to hike in Upper Dolpo than this is a good package to explore this region for the first time. It includes traversing 3 high passes (all above 5000m), visit Buddhist monasteries, meeting the locals, go alongside the perfect blue Phoksundo Lake, visit Shey gompa at the feet of the mythical Crystal mountain. Yes, you see a lot of blue sheep and the snow leopard will definitely see you. You have a nearly 100% chance to see the impressive Himalayan vulture with wings spread more than 3m! The distant views on the northern side of the Dhaulagiri range and on the mountain range on the border with Tibet leave an unforgettable impression. I did the trekking with the excellent guide Baboo Magar in the month of October (2019) and a lot of people were harvesting before the winter, very authentic. The route as described give you enough time to acclimatize well before the first high pass with one resting day at Dho Tarap (don’t miss the yak caravans in the morning!). Other companies will go first to Shey but then the first pass comes too soon for good acclimatization. My personal highlights: ancient trading place Tarakot, the nearly inhabited long valley of Tarap Khola (one need 3 days for passing and enjoying this beautiful valley), crossroad Dho Tarap with monasteries, yak caravans, local people), the first pass Jyanta La and its view on the Dhaulagiri range, the farmer villages Saldang and Karang and its friendly people, the second pass Sela La and at last after so long dreaming of it (book the Snow leopard!) arriving in Shey (and its beautiful rock monastery), the third pass Nogdola La and the view on the Kanjirowa Himal, Phoksundo Lake and its unforgettable blue (one camps and on the north side and on the south side), Ringmo and its ancient monastery, passing the biggest waterfall of Nepal, and so on and so on … Thanks again for the great support we received from the guide Baboo and his team (Amrit, Ramresh, Man, Narrean, Baboolal, Amar, Sidhi, Darke) making this a top range experience…
After the succesfull climb of the Mera Peak last year (april 2018) with Babu Magar, we completed in october 2019 again a challenging trek to Lower and Upper Dolpo. The Dolpo-region remains unspoiled by the hordes of trekkers found in other parts of the country (f.e. Upper Dolpo is a restricted area: access fee and limited visitors per year), so this makes it a more authentic, special and exclusive experience trekking destination. It’s not only amazing because of the magnificent scenery and animals you see (passing yaks, a lot of blue sheeps, birds, … but unfortunately no snow leopard 😉), but also because it offers an insight into the culture and traditions of this region. We visited a lot of ancient colourful monasteries, schools and interesting small villages where we made contact with the local people. The trip was planned in advance in consultation with Babu and having himself on our trip was an added value! We were a group of 8 trekkers of different ages (range 35-67 year), ability and level of fitness but they were able to made us traveling together as 1 group. So with attention for enough acclimatisation-time, we all crossed the 3 high passes succesfully in our own pace. Babu, Amrit and the rest of the crew (with local people), made our trip as safe and comfortable as possible. They were committed to their job and working very hard with a smile. They made us feel on a luxurious trekking with 5 star-meals every day!!! 😊 Not only taking care of us, but also of the environment. Thank you very much for the advice and guidance on the trail. I enjoyed the trip and I absolutely recommend trekking with these guides from Ascent Trails!
One of my greatest trips of my life trek to Ganja-La pass(5130m.) in Langtang valley with the legendary guide called Gyans and the strong staff from the Ascent Trails. An extremely experience and friendly guide and the all staff (Cook, sherpas, kitchen boys and the porters). I could not do this beautiful adventure trip without your support. i really want to do nest adventure trips in Nepal with you team. i like to make strong recommendation on this company.
